This morning a group of the most fiery, and intense, young people I have ever met boarded our van to release the sound of heaven to a nation in severe need of an awakening! We drove up to the dusty, run-down New Mexico town of Clovis not knowing what would happen but our hearts were brimming with expectation for the promised breakthrough.
As we gathered to set up for 6 hours of worship & prayer, in the small conference room lent to us by generous Christian brothers, we all understood that we were there for purposes bigger than ourselves.
On the outside we had nothing to be excited about. There were only maybe 15 people gathered in this low-lit, chair-less conference room, but something inside us was compelling us and charging our spirits! It was the spirit of hope! I have never seen a group of young adults so captivated by hope!
As we drove into the town we had plenty of opportunities talk about the hopelessness, the poverty, and the heaviness that charged the atmosphere of this small town and yet I never heard one word in agreement with these things. I heard prophetic proclamations about the destiny of this weathered little town! I heard statements of faith declaring that revival was coming and a new sound was going to be released form Clovis.
As we hit the first chord, and said the first prayer I felt the host of heaven converge with this humble,
rag-tag group of spiritual warriors. Tonight would be a night that demons would be displaced and kingdoms conquered for the cause of Christ! The prophets of hope have gathered to declare heaven’s perspective over a town that is in desperate need to hear a voice declaring something different than their experience.
Could it be that our prayers and simple love songs could build a throne for the ancient of days to rule from and that God could ignite a movement from the ashes of small town America to turn the hearts of many to Christ.
As I looked around the room a family was weeping and embracing one another, a young man who walked in off the street was being prophesied over, weary intercessors were weeping as the presence of God had invaded earth and the winds of change began to blow.
One by one our team, some of them a mere 16 years old (old enough to slay a giant!) began to prophesy hope over the city and declare God’s heart over intercessors! The boldness on these young prophets was staggering. One of our team members came up to me and said, my friend back home just called me declaring the rain was coming! Twenty minutes later we heard the thunder and the roar of rain pelting the tin roof! A coincidence or a sign of the in-breaking of the latter rain to Clovis New Mexico?
Watch out the prophets of hope are coming to a city near you!
