We had one day on our itinerary that we felt like we should leave un-planned in order to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit! This definitely wasn't the most comfortable situation to be in but God proved himself faithful and blew our minds with what he did. God divinenly connected us with a Pastor's wife in Yuba City that had done incredible research on the revival history of Chico California. After listening to the incredible history of Chico we felt that the Holy Spirit was sending us to Chico to pray and open the wells of revival there.
In the late 1800's a woman named Annie Bidwell founded a college, which later became Chico State University, in order to train and send godly teachers into the nation. The Bidwells were incredible prayer warriors, revivalist, and stood for justice. Annie and her husband consistently reached out to Native Americans and it is recorded that through her prayers the dead were even raised. She and her husband also fought for prohibition and women's rights. Ironically, today Chico State University is known as one of the top 5 party schools in the nation.
There were also other great movements of the Spirit in Chico throughout the years and we felt like it was a strategic point to pray at on our journey. After arriving in Chico we found that their is a hungry remnant and fiery faith in the hearts of God's people that Chico will be a revival center for the nation. We also found that God has sent God's general's like Lou Engle to pray in Chico. The Prayer House, a 24-7 prayer ministry, hosted us and let us sleep in the prayer house. I have never felt more at home in my life and have rarely met people so open and with such strong faith!
We visited the campus and prayed and sat on the steps of the Bidwell Mansion declaring that the plans God has for the University would be realized in our day! We felt that God gave us strategic insight to repent for the spirit of religion that tried to legislate morality through prohibition during Annie Bidwells day. We also felt that their was a great dishonoring of the Bidwell's heritage and legacy and that the church needed to embrace the inheritance they left. We later found out after meeting with some intercessors that the generation proceeding the Bidwell's turned away from and disrespected the Bidwell's wishes for their church and for the campus.
We met so many incredible people that God had moved to Chico specifically to be a part of preparing for the coming revival. They told us that a group of 8 people were gettting ready to relocate from Colorado Springs to Chico to come pray for Revival. I had never even heard of Chico before this week but I sense that soon the nation will know about this place! It was a privilege to be a part of what God is doing in Chico by redigging the wells of Revival in Chico!
