Sonic Bloom: The Sound that Transforms Cities

As we were praying about this the West Coast Burn Wagon the Lord said: "The desert will bloom the seeds of revivals past and prayers of old will spring up and be activated by the sound of the voice of the Lord. He’s declaring that it is a new day, the winter is past and the spring has come (Song of Songs 2:11) . It is time for dead and buried dreams and for the seeds of intercession from the last 50 years to bloom into a full-scale Awakening!" We will be visiting historic revival wells where God shook the earth 50-100 years ago from these cities. We believe that these Revivals have been fuel for intercession for the last 50 years. These prayers are seeds and as we release His word and sound the seeds will bloom into awakening! It will create a Sonic Bloom--suddenly life will spring up!  We will be visiting New Mexico, Arizona, and Many cities in California including Sacramento, LA, & San Francisco!

There have been sounds throughout time that have literally shifted cultures and shaped history. In the 50’s in America a new sound, called Rock-n-Roll, emerged that carried with it a powerful yet subtle message of rebellion and lawlessness. In the sixties a generation of youth that fed on Rock-n-Roll’s message cast off restraint and the era of free-love, drug experimentation and full blown perversion was released. However, there is a new sound that is being released that comes with violent, explosive power to liberate a generation from the chains of evil and thrust them into their destiny as sons and daughters of God. King David was part of a new sound movement and understood it’s absolute divine power to shift a nation from idolatry back true worship and to take cities for the glory of God. In the Psalms of David is hidden the DNA for tapping into the new sound that redeems cities.

Psalm 108 is a glimpse into David’s experience with the new sound and it’s impact on a generation. I would like to think that this whole Psalm was a prophetic song that was sung while David was passing through an enemy nation. In verse two David begins to prophesy to the musicians of the land, “Awake, harp and lyre. awaken the Dawn.”We obviously know that instruments can’t sleep so what was he saying? In essence he was saying let an awakening from heaven release a new sound in the music that will release the in breaking of a new day! Awaken the Dawn! Can there be a sound that shatters darkness and floods a generation with light? Yes and I believe we are just beginning to see this anointing awaken the musicians in the church.

When an instrument is awakened by the presence of God it carries the ability to convey the heart of God and the power to see it come to pass. Music becomes a container or vehicle for the purposes of God. Awakened music carries the anointing to shift things from darkness to light and thus awakening the Dawn.

In the very next verse David makes the declaration, “I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations.”This verse is important because of its connection to the musical awakening that took place in verse 2. After this awakening there was an anointing released that compelled David to go to enemy nations and to sing about the glory of God. This is a picture of what God is doing in our day with the marriage of the worship and prayer movement with the mission movement. Hearts that have been awakened by the prophetic song will eventually be compelled to take that light into the darkness and thus see a harvest of souls!

So David is singing, prophesying and declaring the greatness of God to people that hate God and hate Israel and in the midst of this a word from God is released that actually becomes the strategy for possessing these enemy nations. In verse seven God names off several enemy nations and declares that he is parceling out the land to Israel. I believe this is a key component and a shift that must take place in our hearts before we can take cities for God. We must see that the land we worship in belongs to God already and that he is 'parceling' it out to us as an inheritance. This sound of faith is what is released through awakened music! When this sense of ownership and faith enters our hearts for our cities then everything changes! We begin to see through the eyes of faith that we can see cities and nations transformed.

A couple of weeks ago during our morning prayer meeting with the interns God began to speak to us about taking dominion over our neighborhood. We live in rough part of town where just in the few weeks of living here there have been two drug busts. We live just across the street from one of the town’s only liquor stores and so we get a lot of undesirable foot traffic passing by our house. We sent the interns out to spy out the land and to ask God to show us what He is doing. The assignment was to pray over and sing over the city streets as they went. With this new sense of ownership over the city they introduced themselves to the liquor store owner, policemen,Judges at the courthouse, and neighbors and told them basically that we are standing guard over the city and want to know how we can pray for them.

They saw a lot of needs in our city but they came back full of faith and excitement because they just didn’t see poverty, crime and perversion! They saw our cities through the eyes of faith! As they were singing over the city God confirmed to them that He is parceling it out to them! Now with this kind of faith we can surely take cities for Christ!

In verse ten God asks a very interesting question to David, He says, “Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?” Edom was a pagan nation and one of David’s enemies. God is basically saying, “who will bring my presence to the dark places of the earth where I will make my enemies into friends?” This is absolutely stunning! God sends those that have awakened hearts to sing of the greatness of God in cities across the world and then here leases our identity as sons and daughters of God to possess those nations!

This is the mandate! We must take His presence to the nations. He says in the last days I will rebuild David’s fallen tent so that the remnant of Edom may seek my face! God cares about Edom! (Amos 9:11)
